In conjunction with the Club Charter & Installation Night in 2017, the editorial team managed to speak to a few of the charter members, let's recap what motivates them to join the Club.
"Amazing talents"
I have joined the new Rotary family. Firstly, due to the amazing people there, they are energetic, talented and helpful. Secondly, it is a good platform to contribute to the society for the good cause. I am grateful to stay connected to the society through this platform.
"Connect and serve for better world around me"
I join Rotary as I wish to be more connected with the community and giving to the society what little contribution I can offer. As a new mother of two toddlers, I am juggling between running a music and arts centre and taking care of my children. Busy as I am, I still hope I can give my time to community service and see a better world around me. Sometimes a little gesture of love and generosity goes a long way to change lives and motive bigger initiatives.
"Influence of parents and as role model"
Service Beyond Self resonates with me as one of the key philosophies taught to me by my parents. My father was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club in my hometown in UK, so since the age of 3 years I was brought up within Rotary Community, involved in Rotary activities and fellowship. I have been a member of Rotary for a total of about 7 years. The Rotary Club of Kuching Unity City will be my 3rd club and I am excited to be actively involve in Rotary activities again, especially those involving our local community.
"Teamwork"
I can contribute to the society. There are limited resources that we can contribute but we can accomplish bigger tasks and roles if we work as a team.
"Inclusive environment"
It was the warm and welcoming environment that won me over. It provides me a good opportunity and platform to network professionally and yet able to contribute back to the society. I look forward to more events by this club. Special thanks to all Rotarians for making it a success! Bravo!”
