PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

President Careen Chua Mui Ka

Dear fellow Rotarians,

Thank you all for entrusting me with this significant responsibility of serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Kuching Unity City for the Rotary Year 2024-25.

First and foremost, a huge thank you to our outgoing President, Mok Yong Yaw. Your outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication over the past two years have been truly remarkable.

To our past Board of Directors, thank you for your hard work and commitment. Your efforts have been instrumental in shaping our club's achievements, and I am grateful for your service.

To our current Board of Directors, thank you for taking up the roles and being the leaders who drive our club forward. And to every Rotarian in our club, your commitment and enthusiasm are the foundation of our success.

Our theme this year is "The Magic of Rotary". RI President Stephanie Urchick reminds us that we create magic with every project completed, every dollar donated, and every new member of Rotary.

In line with this theme, we have exciting plans for the year:

  1. Mental Wellness Centre:
With the Mental Wellness Centre ready at the office of IPP Mok, we will continue with the mental health project, which is a crucial aspect of overall well-being.

  2. Rotary Care for Your Health:
Covering vision and hearing health with the sponsorship of spectacles from Guan Ho Leong Group by PP David Ling and hearing aids from 20dB Hearing by IPP Mok.

  3. Vocational Training:
This year, we are emphasizing vocational training to support education and grow local economies. By offering training, we enhance the skills of small business owners, helping them prepare for new regulations and technological advancements.

These sessions will serve as a platform to invite professionals and individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering networking opportunities. Throughout these sessions, we can attract new members who are passionate about making an impact through their professional skills. Vocational training is a powerful tool, not only for attracting but also for engaging and retaining members.

I encourage every member to get involved. Together, we can achieve our targets and make this Rotary Year truly magical.

Let us embrace the Magic of Rotary, work together and leave a lasting impact in our community.

Yours in Rotary,

Careen Chua Mui Ka

President, RY2024-25
